Play Lion King, The (Japan) Online

You play as Simba from cub to adult—leaping across vines, getting tossed by monkeys, and barely surviving hyenas in the elephant graveyard. The jungle backgrounds still look gorgeous, and yeah, you’ll definitely hum that ostrich level song afterward.

Game Overview

I first played The Lion King on the Super Nintendo back in 1994, published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment. It was one of those licensed platformers that really stood out at the time, with detailed animation and a strong sense of atmosphere. The game follows the story of the film, letting you step right into Simba's world without feeling like a cheap tie-in.

You control Simba through various stages of his life, starting as a cub and eventually growing into an adult lion. The main goal is to survive each level, which involves a lot of jumping across platforms, avoiding hazards, and battling enemies like hyenas and vultures. Two key mechanics are the pounce attack, which you use to defeat foes, and the roar ability that stuns enemies when you're older. The game can be pretty tough, with some precise platforming required, especially in later stages. It feels rewarding to finally nail a tricky jump or beat a boss after a few attempts.
