Game Overview

Little Tai Chi: Myth Adventures came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Natsume. It was part of that late-era wave of platformers, colorful and ambitious, but often overlooked in favor of bigger names. The game has a quiet, almost meditative look, with soft colors and a lot of open sky in its levels.

You control a small tai chi practitioner who explores floating islands, screen by screen. The main goal is to recover scattered pieces of a mystical artifact, which involves navigating platforms, avoiding environmental hazards, and confronting enemies. Combat is timing-based; you don't just attack, you wait for an opening and deflect or redirect enemy strikes. If you mistime a move, you're left vulnerable, but a well-executed counter can knock foes off the edge with a satisfying sense of control. The pace is deliberate, almost puzzle-like in its demand for patience, and the difficulty comes from reading enemy patterns rather than pure reaction speed. It feels thoughtful and precise, like each screen is a short exercise in concentration.
