Game Overview

Lotus: The Ultimate Challenge came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Gremlin Graphics Software Limited. It was a straightforward racing title from an era when driving games were starting to embrace speed and competition without overcomplicating things. You got behind the wheel of a Lotus sports car and raced across a handful of tracks that varied in setting and time of day.

You control one of several Lotus models, each with slightly different handling, and compete in a championship against aggressive AI opponents. The main objective is to win races by navigating tight, winding courses while managing your car's limited fuel and avoiding spins or crashes. Signature mechanics include drafting behind opponents to gain speed boosts and carefully timing gear shifts for optimal acceleration. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be punishing, especially on later tracks where precision matters more. It feels tense and demanding, especially when you're fighting for position on a narrow road with rivals constantly pressuring you from all sides.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
