Game Overview

Mario Superstar Baseball is exactly what it sounds like—Mario and the gang playing baseball, but with that classic Nintendo twist. You start by picking your team captain (Mario, Peach, Bowser, etc.), each with their own ridiculous special moves. Luigi’s star pitch curves like crazy, while Donkey Kong smashes homers into the next zip code. The actual baseball rules are pretty standard—three strikes, three outs—but you can shorten games if nine innings feels like too much.

There’s a bunch of ways to play: quick exhibition matches, a full Challenge mode where you recruit characters by beating other teams (good luck against Bowser’s crew), and Toy Field, which is basically a chaotic points-based minigame where you aim for numbered zones. Oh, and the fields? They’re full of weird Mario hazards—watch out for Chain Chomps in the outfield.

It’s silly, it’s fun, and it’s way more entertaining than real baseball. The controls take a minute to get used to, but once you figure out how to time those star swings, you’ll be hooked. Definitely one of the better Mario sports games out there.
