Mech Brigade came out in 1985 from Strategic Simulations, Inc., one of those classic MS-DOS games that felt right at home on a beige box monitor. It was a time when strategy games were just starting to find their legs on the PC, and this one threw you straight into the cockpit of a lumbering war machine without much hand-holding.

You command a single battlemech, moving it across a grid-based map to complete objectives, usually involving the destruction of all enemy units. The game forces you to manage your heat levels with every weapon fired or movement made; pushing your reactor too hard risks a shutdown, leaving you a stationary target. Careful positioning is everything, as you try to keep enemies in your firing arcs while staying out of theirs, and the turn-based nature means every decision carries weight. It feels like a tense, methodical chess match where one wrong move can cook your own mech from the inside out.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
