Game Overview

Might and Magic IV: Clouds of Xeen came out in 1992 from New World Computing, a solid entry in the MS-DOS era of first-person RPGs. It ran on systems that were common at the time, with VGA graphics and a mouse-driven interface that felt responsive compared to some earlier titles. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it built on what players already liked about the series.

You control a party of up to six characters, creating them from several classes and races, then guide them through the world of Xeen in first-person perspective. Your main goal is to defeat the evil Lord Xeen, which involves exploring towns, talking to NPCs for clues, and delving into dungeons filled with monsters and traps. Key mechanics include grid-based movement, turn-based combat where you input commands for each party member, and spellcasting with a wide variety of offensive and utility effects. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be punishing if you wander into areas you're not prepared for. It feels like piecing together a large, dangerous world one step at a time.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
