Play Nettou Garou Densetsu 2 (Japan) Online

Tiny sprites, crunchy sound effects—but somehow pulling off Terry’s Power Geyser on a Game Boy D-pad still feels ridiculously satisfying. It’s janky in all the right ways.

Game Overview

Nettou Garou Densetsu 2 came out for the Game Boy in 1999, developed and published by SNK. It was part of a wave of handheld adaptations of arcade fighters, a time when developers squeezed big cabinet experiences into monochrome portables. This one tried to bring the Fatal Fury style to a smaller screen without losing too much of its identity.

You control one of several fighters from the Fatal Fury series, like Terry Bogard or Andy, and face off against opponents in one-on-one battles. The main goal is to defeat all challengers across a series of matches, ending with a boss fight. Signature mechanics include pulling off special moves with precise directional inputs and managing a two-plane system where you can jump between foreground and background to dodge or close in. The pacing is fast, though the small screen can make spacing tricky; the difficulty feels fair for a portable conversion. It feels responsive and surprisingly complete for a Game Boy fighter, even with the hardware limitations.
