Game Overview

Ninja Gaiden-mame is that old-school arcade ninja game you probably remember from dimly lit pizza parlors—except now you can play it without scrounging for quarters. You’re Ryu Hayabusa, slashing through waves of enemies with a sword that feels way too satisfying for how simple the controls are. The first level tricks you into thinking it’s easy, then suddenly you’re getting jumped from all sides by guys who apparently took ninja lessons too.

What I love is how fluid the movement feels—wall jumps, flips, and those little shuriken throws that somehow always hit the wrong guy. The combo system isn’t fancy by today’s standards, but nailing a perfect string of attacks without getting hit still gives that arcade rush. Just don’t be surprised when the third stage boss makes you question your life choices.

If you’ve got a soft spot for brutally honest retro difficulty or just want to see where modern action games stole half their ideas, this one’s a time capsule worth opening.
