Nintendogs - Miniature Dachshund & Friends is one of those DS games that just feels nice to play. You start by picking out a tiny dachshund (or one of the other breeds if you're feeling rebellious) and suddenly you're scratching its ears with the stylus, watching it tilt its head when you talk into the mic. The first time mine actually learned to sit after enough treats, I might've gotten weirdly proud.

It's not just about petting them, though—you'll take your pup on walks where they sniff out random items (some useful, some... not), and there's this disc competition minigame that's way more intense than it has any right to be. The Japanese version has a few extra breeds and items if you're into that, but honestly, the core charm is the same: it turns your DS into a little pocket full of wagging tails.

Just don't blame me when you catch yourself saying "good dog!" out loud in public.
