Play Norse by Norse West: The Return of the Lost Vikings Online

Swapping between five Vikings—some throw axes, some breathe fire, some take hits—to solve puzzles that feel unfair until you realize how dumb you’ve been. Classic Blizzard level design that makes you laugh while cursing Erik’s terrible jump arc.

Game Overview

I remember playing Norse by Norse West: The Return of the Lost Vikings back in 1997, when it came out as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection from Interplay Entertainment. It was a sequel to the original Lost Vikings, and it fit right in with the kind of puzzle platformers that were popular at the time, games that made you think as much as they made you move.

You control a team of Vikings, each with unique abilities; one can jump high, another uses a shield to block attacks, and a third throws weapons. The goal is to guide all of them safely through each level, solving environmental puzzles and avoiding hazards. You switch between characters on the fly to combine their skills, like using Baleog's bow to hit switches or Olaf's shield to deflect projectiles. The pacing is deliberate, and some puzzles demand trial and error, but figuring out the right sequence brings a real sense of accomplishment. It feels clever and collaborative, like putting together a moving jigsaw where every piece has to survive.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
