Game Overview

Oddworld Adventures II on the Game Boy Color is like cramming all the weirdness of Abe’s world into a tiny green-tinted screen—and somehow, it works. You’re still playing as Abe, that accident-prone Mudokon with a knack for getting into trouble, sneaking past sligs and rescuing your buddies from factories that look like they were designed by someone with a grudge against cute creatures.

The controls take a second to get used to—this is still Oddworld, so expect to fumble a few jumps before you nail the timing. But once you do, it’s weirdly satisfying to possess enemies mid-stride or watch Abe faceplant into a mine because you misjudged a ledge. The puzzles are meaner than the first game, and the levels feel tighter, like they squeezed every last drop of challenge out of the GBC’s hardware.

It’s not as pretty as the PlayStation versions, obviously, but the dark humor and that "wait, did I just accidentally explode myself?" feeling are totally intact. If you’ve got a soft spot for janky, clever platformers, this one’s a trip.
