Game Overview

Remember that old Oregon Trail game from MS-DOS? The one where you'd inevitably lose half your party to dysentery before reaching Oregon? Yeah, that one. You start by naming your wagon crew (I always made mine after my friends, which made the deaths extra tragic) and picking supplies—do you splurge on extra oxen or gamble on making it with less?

Then it's just you, the open trail, and about a hundred ways to die. River crossings turn into panic sessions where you debate whether to ford or caulk the wagon (hint: wrong choice = instant game over). Hunting's weirdly satisfying—you mash keys to shoot pixelated deer, but half the time your bullets just vanish into the void. And don't get me started on the random events: one minute you're fine, the next your axle breaks or someone gets typhoid.

It's janky, brutally unfair at times, and somehow still weirdly addictive. The blocky green graphics and that tinny soundtrack are pure nostalgia, but there's something oddly compelling about seeing if you can outsmart history. Just don't get too attached to your party members.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
