Game Overview

Prince of Persia came out in 1990 for MS-DOS, developed by Jordan Mechner and published by Broderbund. It was one of those games that felt different from the start, a step up in presentation and tension from many other platformers of the era. The smooth animation and realistic movement of the prince set it apart immediately, making the world feel more tangible and the stakes more personal.

You control a young prince thrown into a dungeon, with one hour to rescue the princess from the evil vizier Jaffar. The game plays out screen by screen, a series of interconnected rooms and traps. You spend your time running, jumping over spikes, dodging blade traps, and climbing walls, all while fighting guards with a simple but precise sword fighting system. The timing for everything is strict, and a single misstep often means starting the room over. It feels like a tense, methodical puzzle where every move must be considered.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
