Puzzle Master came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by HotGen and published by THQ. It was part of that wave of puzzle games that tried to stand out on a handheld already full of Tetris clones and quirky experiments. The game didn't aim for flashy graphics or a deep story; it just offered a straightforward, sometimes frantic, block-matching challenge.

You control a small wizard at the bottom of the screen, tasked with clearing a rising stack of colored blocks by matching three or more of the same type. Monsters at the top periodically drop skulls that clutter the pile, while special items like daggers let you slash through specific rows and bombs clear larger areas. The pace picks up quickly, and you often find yourself scrambling to create matches before the blocks reach the top. It feels tense but satisfying when you pull off a last-minute combo to save yourself.
