Game Overview

Dissolution of Eternity came out in 1997 as the second mission pack for Quake, developed by Rogue Entertainment. It was part of that wave of MS-DOS shooters where expansions often felt like a full new game, adding levels and enemies without straying too far from the core formula. The setting shifts from the gothic castles of the base game to more varied environments, including ancient temples and fiery caverns.

You control the same nameless marine, fighting through interconnected levels filled with monsters from Quake and new additions like lava men and electric eels. The goal is to stop a powerful entity named Quake from merging dimensions. You explore room by room, solve simple switch puzzles, and collect keys to progress. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow, with traps and ambushes keeping you alert. Combat relies on quick weapon switching, especially with the new lava nailgun and multi-rocket launcher. It feels tense and methodical, like you are always one mistake from a quick death.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
