Race Driver: Create & Race came out on the Nintendo DS in 2007 from Codemasters. It was part of that wave of DS games that really tried to use the touch screen for something more than just menu navigation, fitting right in with the system's experimental phase.

You control a race car from a top-down perspective, steering with either the D-pad or the stylus. The main goal is to win championships, but the real draw is building your own tracks by sketching them freehand on the bottom screen. You can also tweak your car's handling and then take your creations online to race against others. The AI provides a decent challenge, especially on tighter custom tracks, and the whole package moves at a brisk pace. It feels genuinely clever to draw a track and then immediately test it out at speed.
