Rescue Rover 2 came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by id Software before they became famous for first-person shooters. It was a straightforward puzzle game from an era when many titles focused on simple mechanics and clear objectives, often distributed on floppy disks alongside other shareware adventures.

You control a small robot tasked with rescuing other robots trapped in maze-like levels. The main goal is to push blocks to create paths, avoid hazards like lasers and pits, and reach each captive. Signature mechanics include navigating screen by screen, using conveyor belts to move objects (and yourself), and timing your movements to bypass enemies. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding careful planning with every step. It feels satisfying to finally solve a tricky room after several failed attempts.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
