Game Overview

Road Hog came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, published by Epic MegaGames. It was one of those straightforward arcade-style games that felt right at home on a PC in the mid-90s, before 3D acceleration became the norm. You didn't need a fancy setup to run it, just a keyboard and a willingness to dodge a lot of oncoming cars.

You control a driver from a top-down perspective, constantly moving forward on a multi-lane highway. The goal is simple: survive as long as possible while racking up points by smashing into other vehicles and avoiding police cars. Key mechanics include swerving between lanes to hit specific cars for bonuses, managing your limited fuel supply by grabbing gas cans, and outrunning pursuing cops that try to ram you off the road. The pacing is relentless; traffic gets denser and faster the longer you last, making every second tense. It feels like a chaotic, satisfying test of reflexes where one wrong move ends your run abruptly.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
