SAR - Search And Rescue is this wild little arcade shooter from SNK’s golden age—you’re part of a government team dropped onto a derelict spaceship crawling with rogue robots and aliens. The pixel art still holds up, especially when everything’s exploding around you in tight corridors.
It’s got that classic run-and-gun feel where you’re constantly scrambling for better weapons while dodging attacks from all sides. The controls are simple, but the sheer chaos of enemies keeps it tense. No co-op here, which is a shame, but the single-player action is frantic enough on its own.
If you’re into retro shooters with a sci-fi horror vibe, this one’s a solid time capsule from 1989. Just watch out for those surprise ambushes in the ship’s darker corners.
