Play SD Gundam - Dimension War Online

You move little Gundams around a grid, then suddenly you’re flying straight at an enemy trying to time a punch before they blast you. It’s clunky, but landing a hit feels weirdly satisfying.

Game Overview

SD Gundam - Dimension War feels like a weird mix of slow, thoughtful strategy and sudden, awkward action scenes. You start on this flat grid map, moving little chibi-style Gundam units around like a board game. It's all turn-based—so you’re plotting out movements, lining up attacks, trying to guess where the enemy’s going next, and sometimes just sitting there wondering if you're about to get jumped from behind.

Once two units get close enough, the game snaps into this bizarre third-person dogfight mode. Your Gundam zooms toward the enemy, and then it’s all about timing your shots or melee swings while flying directly at the screen. It’s janky, and the depth effect from the Virtual Boy makes it kind of hard to tell where anything really is, but there's something funny about watching these chunky little mobile suits clash like it’s a 3D puppet show.

The missions all start with a wall of text setting up the story, but honestly, I ended up skipping through most of that just to get back into the grid. SD Gundam - Dimension War isn't exactly smooth, but once you figure out how to bait enemies and pull off a proper counter, there’s some satisfaction buried under all the clunky red-and-black chaos.
