Shadow of Yserbius came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Sierra On-Line. It was a time when dungeon crawlers were often single-player affairs, but this one stood out for letting you and your friends tackle a massive underground fortress together. The graphics were typical for the era, with chunky sprites and a first-person view that made every new room feel like a discovery.

You control a party of adventurers, choosing from classes like fighter, mage, or thief, and your goal is to explore the depths beneath Castle Yserbius, fighting monsters and gathering treasure. The game moves screen by screen, with turn-based combat that lets you swing swords, cast spells, or shoot arrows at enemies like goblins and dragons. You have to manage your resources carefully, especially health and magic, because the dungeon is long and unforgiving. It feels tense and rewarding when you finally clear a difficult floor or find a rare piece of equipment after a tough fight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
