Sherlock Holmes: The Riddle of the Crown Jewels came out in 1987 from Infocom, one of the last major text adventures before graphics took over. It was a time when you had to read everything, type every command, and really lean into your own imagination to make the world come alive.

You play as Dr. Watson, tasked with recovering the stolen jewels by solving a series of cryptic riddles left by Moriarty. You move through London location by location, questioning witnesses, examining objects, and piecing together clues under a strict time limit. The game demands careful observation and precise input; a simple typo can waste precious minutes. It feels like a genuine race against a cunning opponent, where every decision carries weight and the pressure is always mounting.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
