Game Overview

I first played Solo Flight back in the 1980s, one of those early MS-DOS titles from the MicroProse catalog, developed by Sid Meier. It was a time when flight simulators were just finding their feet on home computers, and this one felt different, more focused on a singular, tense experience rather than overwhelming you with a cockpit full of dials.

You pilot a small aircraft through a series of missions, navigating by a simple wireframe map and a handful of instruments. The main goal is to take off, fly to specific coordinates, and land safely before your fuel runs out. The signature mechanics are the unforgiving fuel management and the stark, screen-by-screen navigation that forces you to constantly check your position against the map. It's a slow, deliberate game where a single miscalculation means starting over from the beginning. The feeling of finally nailing a smooth touchdown after numerous fiery crashes is a quiet, personal victory.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
