Game Overview

Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer came out in 1987 for MS-DOS, published by Electronic Arts. It was one of the more serious flight simulators of its time, aiming for a level of realism that set it apart from arcade shooters. You got a thick manual with it, and you really needed to read it.

You pilot a variety of military aircraft, from trainers to fighters like the F-15. The main goal is to complete specific missions, which range from simple takeoffs and landings to complex aerial combat and navigation challenges. Key mechanics include managing your plane's systems, like flaps and throttle, and executing precise maneuvers to outfly opponents. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is steep; a poorly calculated approach will send you cartwheeling off the tarmac. It feels like you are actually learning to fly.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
