Play Sonic Advance (J)(Eurasia) Online

Sonic tears through colorful zones at breakneck speed, nailing those classic loop-de-loops while Tails and Knuckles add fresh ways to zip around—just watch out for those brutal later levels. Feels like the Genesis days but sharper.

Game Overview

Man, Sonic Advance was such a big deal when it dropped on the GBA. After years of Sega vs. Nintendo rivalry, suddenly Sonic’s bouncing around on a Nintendo handheld—wild times. It feels like a proper throwback to the Genesis days, with tight platforming and those classic loop-de-loops, but the sprites are way crisper than the old 16-bit versions.

You’ve got the usual speed runs with Sonic, but Tails and Knuckles are playable too—I always went with Knuckles because gliding over gaps never gets old. The levels have that perfect mix of speed sections and tricky platforming, though some of the later zones get brutal if you’re trying to grab all the Chaos Emeralds. Honestly, it holds up better than a lot of the 3D Sonic stuff from that era.

Fun fact: This little cart spawned a whole GBA trilogy, but the first one’s still my favorite.
