If you've ever wanted to feel like Sonic just drank three energy drinks at once, this is the game for you. The Japanese version of Sonic Rush on DS throws you straight into those classic high-speed loops and corkscrews, but now with the added chaos of the bottom screen showing your boost meter and tricks.
What surprised me was how different Blaze plays compared to Sonic—she’s got this floaty, controlled feel that makes some of the trickier platforming sections way less punishing. The levels look fantastic for a DS game, all neon colors and parallax scrolling that somehow don’t turn into a blurry mess when you’re going full tilt. Just don’t be surprised when you faceplant into an enemy because you were too busy trying to chain boost tricks.
It’s that perfect kind of Sonic game where you’ll replay levels just to shave off half a second from your time. The music’s got these crunchy guitar riffs that somehow make running even faster feel mandatory.
