Sonic Rush came out for the Nintendo DS in 2005, developed by Sega and Dimps. It was part of that early wave of DS games that really tried to show off what the system could do, especially with its two screens. You could tell they were pushing the hardware, not just making another portable Sonic.
You control either Sonic or Blaze the Cat, racing through levels at a breakneck pace. The main goal is to get to the end of each stage as fast as possible, while collecting rings and defeating enemies. Two key mechanics are the Tension Gauge, which fills as you perform tricks and allows you to boost, and the use of both screens for massive jumps and extended level layouts. The game is fast and demanding, with precise timing needed to maintain momentum. It feels like you're barely holding on, but totally in control when you nail it.
