This is the classic Sonic 2 we all love, but with some sneaky tweaks that make it feel fresh again. You still blast through those gorgeous zones as Sonic or Tails, bouncing off springs and dodging Robotnik's ridiculous contraptions—except now there are some surprise twists in the level layouts that kept catching me off guard.

Hachelle-Bee's hack doesn't go overboard—it's still recognizably Sonic 2, just with smarter enemy placements and a few new paths hidden in familiar stages. I got wrecked by a badnik in Chemical Plant that definitely wasn't there in the original. Tails feels slightly less likely to yeet himself into bottomless pits too, which is nice.

If you've played Sonic 2 to death but want that first-time feeling of not quite knowing what's around the next loop-de-loop, this version's worth a spin. Just watch out for those revamped boss patterns—Robotnik's up to his old tricks, just with some new ones mixed in.
