Space Ace_Disk2 on the Amiga is basically Readysoft doing their thing again—taking a laserdisc arcade classic and cramming it onto 16-bit hardware. You play as Space Ace (or his awkward teenage self, Dexter) trying to save Earth and his girlfriend from Commander Borf. The whole thing plays like an interactive cartoon—gorgeous redrawn animation, but you’ve gotta nail the right button presses at just the right moment or watch poor Ace/Dexter meet a grisly end (and there are plenty of those).

It’s missing the arcade version’s branching paths where you could choose between Ace and Dexter, so you’re stuck with whoever the scene forces on you. Still, if you liked Dragon’s Lair’s style of "press button or die spectacularly," this is more of that, just with laser guns and space villains instead of dragons. The animations hold up surprisingly well, even if the Amiga can’t quite match the arcade’s fluidity.

Fair warning: you’ll probably die a lot before memorizing the timing. But hey, at least the fails are fun to watch.
