Game Overview

Space Ace came out in 1989 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by ReadySoft Incorporated. It was a product of its time, a laser disc game that tried to push the boundaries of what home computers could do with full-motion video, even if the actual gameplay was mostly about timing and memorization.

You control Dexter, a space hero who gets hit by the Infanto Ray and turned into a teenager, and you have to stop the villain Borf from conquering Earth. The game plays out through a series of animated scenes where you must press the correct arrow key or action button at the exact moment to dodge obstacles, shoot enemies, or transform back into the muscular Ace. The main objective is to survive each sequence without failing, as a single mistake often leads to a comical death animation. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is unforgiving, demanding perfect recall of each scene's quick-time events. It feels less like playing a game and more like trying to conduct a chaotic, pre-recorded cartoon where you're always one beat behind.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
