Game Overview

Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Software Creations. It was one of those early licensed games that tried to bring Marvel's heroes into the side scrolling action genre, with mixed results. The game arrived during a time when many developers were still figuring out how to translate comic book action into satisfying gameplay.

You control Spider-Man, Wolverine, Storm, and Gambit across separate stages, each with unique abilities and physics. The goal is to survive Arcade's murderous theme park and rescue your teammates. Spider-Man swings with his webs, Wolverine slashes with his claws, Storm flies in limited bursts, and Gambit throws charged cards. The screen by screen platforming is unforgiving, with instant death traps and awkward jumps defining the pace. Finishing a stage feels more like relief than triumph.
