Play Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge (Europe) Online

You swap between Spider-Man and X-Men heroes, each with their own clunky-but-charming controls—dodging buzzsaws as Wolverine feels totally different from Storm’s awkward flight sections. That one jump you keep missing? Yeah, you’ll try it twenty times and still come back.

Game Overview

Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge came out on the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Software Creations. It was part of that early wave of licensed games on the system, where you could finally control Marvel characters at home, even if the execution was sometimes rough around the edges.

You take control of five different heroes: Spider-Man, Wolverine, Storm, Gambit, and Cyclops. Each character has their own dedicated levels with unique abilities; you might be web-swinging through a factory, climbing walls as Wolverine, or using Storm's flight to navigate electrical hazards. The main goal is to rescue your captured teammates from Arcade's murderous theme park, Murderworld. The game is built on screen-by-screen exploration, with a heavy emphasis on precision platforming and avoiding instant-death traps. It's notoriously difficult, with some leaps requiring pixel-perfect timing and enemy patterns that demand memorization. Playing it feels like a constant battle against the controls and level design, but there's a strange satisfaction in finally beating a section that killed you a dozen times.
