Game Overview

Sporting News Power Baseball came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by TOSE and published by Nintendo. It was one of the later baseball games on the system, arriving when the 16-bit era was starting to wind down, but it still offered a solid, straightforward take on the sport without a lot of the extra features that were becoming common elsewhere.

You control all nine players, batting, pitching, and fielding your way through full nine-inning games. The main goal is simple: outscore the other team. At the plate, you time your swings to make contact or try for power hits; on the mound, you aim pitches and mix speeds to keep hitters guessing. Fielding is responsive, with players snapping to grounders and outfielders chasing down flies. The game moves at a good pace, not too slow, and the difficulty feels fair whether you're playing against the computer or a friend. It captures the feel of a quick, competitive ballgame without unnecessary complexity.
