Star Castle was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release that bundled several older titles for the PC. The game itself is a port of the 1980 Cinematronics arcade machine, adapted for the home computer. It fits right into that early era of simple, geometric vector graphics, where gameplay was built on a single, punishing concept rather than a long adventure.

You pilot a small triangular ship, trapped in the center of the screen, surrounded by three concentric rings that form an enemy fortress. Your objective is to destroy the central core by blasting through the rotating rings, each made of individual blocks you must shoot away to create an opening. The core fires a relentless laser at you, while homing mines break off from the innermost ring to chase your ship. You are constantly rotating, thrusting, and firing to carve a path, dodge threats, and land that one crucial shot; the pacing is frantic, and the difficulty is unforgiving, as a single hit means instant death. It feels like a tense, circular duel where every small victory is immediately threatened.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
