Game Overview

Star Command: Gold came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by GT Interactive. It was a space strategy title from a time when turn-based games were common, and it offered a methodical, thoughtful approach to commanding a fleet.

You control a small group of ships, starting from a homeworld, and must manage resources, explore star systems, and engage in tactical combat. The main goal is to expand your influence while surviving encounters with hostile forces. Signature mechanics include turn-based fleet battles, where positioning and weapon choice matter deeply, and resource gathering through mining operations. The pacing is deliberate, and mistakes in combat can be costly, lending a consistent tension to exploration. It feels like conducting a careful, dangerous ballet in the void of space.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
