Star General came out in 1996 for MS-DOS, developed by Strategic Simulations and published by Mindscape. It was part of that wave of deep strategy games that really pushed what you could do on a home computer, offering a complex, turn-based experience without flashy graphics or hand-holding.

You command entire fleets and armies across a galactic map, moving ships between systems, engaging enemy forces in tactical combat, and deploying ground troops to capture planets. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
