Play Star Trek: The Last Generation Online

You’re babysitting the Enterprise-Z, sweating over fuel gauges while dodging Romulans who definitely know where you hid those dilithium safes. That pixel torpedo shot still feels good when it lands.

Game Overview

I first played Star Trek: The Last Generation back in the late 80s, when MS-DOS was still the standard. It was released in 1988 by Xordanbhorgh, Inc., a name I always had to double check. This was a time when space sims were mostly text or simple graphics, and this one fit right in with its chunky CGA visuals and keyboard controls.

You take command of the Enterprise-Z, managing its energy reserves and weapons while navigating sector by sector. The main goal is to protect Federation outposts from Romulan incursions, which involves strategic combat and careful resource allocation. Signature mechanics include screen by screen exploration of star systems, real time ship to ship battles, and collecting dilithium crystals to keep your systems powered. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be punishing if you mismanage your reserves. It feels tense and absorbing, especially when a well aimed torpedo finally connects.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
