Star Wars on the Game Boy came out in 1992, developed by Beam Software and published by Ubisoft. It was one of many licensed games from that era, built for a handheld that was just starting to show what it could do with action adventures. You control Luke Skywalker through a series of levels that loosely follow the story of A New Hope. You run, jump, and swing your lightsaber at stormtroopers and Tusken Raiders, then later pilot an X-wing in overhead shooting segments. The main goal is to progress screen by screen, surviving enemy attacks and navigating environmental hazards. The platforming requires precise jumps, and the combat feels deliberate, almost stiff. Playing it feels like a condensed, sometimes unforgiving, interpretation of the movie's key moments.
