Super Double Dragon came out on the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Technos Japan. It was part of that wave of early SNES beat 'em ups, trying to bring the arcade experience home with a bit more polish. You could tell they were aiming for something a little more deliberate than the usual frantic quarter munchers.
You control either Billy or Jimmy Lee, working through screen by screen to rescue Marian from the Black Warriors gang. The combat lets you punch, kick, and use grappling moves; you can also pick up weapons like knives and baseball bats from defeated enemies. The pacing is methodical, almost strategic at times, because enemies hit hard and the difficulty can jump without much warning. It feels solid and weighty when your attacks connect, though getting surrounded still leads to cheap hits.
