Game Overview

Super Mario Raw World was a fan-made release for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, not an official Nintendo title. It emerged during the era when ROM hacks started gaining traction, offering players familiar mechanics with a distinctly unpolished, experimental twist. The game carries a homemade feel, as if someone reworked the original Mario code with little regard for conventional polish or visual consistency.

You control Mario through a series of side-scrolling levels, jumping on enemies and breaking blocks as expected, but the physics are unpredictable; momentum feels slippery, and jumps sometimes fall short or overshoot. The main goal is still to reach the flagpole at the end of each stage, but levels are packed with odd hidden passages, glitchy-looking tiles, and enemy placements that seem more accidental than designed. Progression is slow because you have to test every surface and anticipate erratic behavior from common foes. Itโ€™s a strange, sometimes frustrating experience that somehow remains compelling precisely because it feels so unfinished and personal.
