Super Mario RPG Revolution is still one of those SNES games that just sticks with you. It’s Mario, but not like you’ve seen him before—suddenly he’s teaming up with Bowser (yeah, really) and swinging a hammer in turn-based battles. The timed button presses during attacks give it this weirdly satisfying rhythm, like you’re actually landing punches instead of just picking "Fight" from a menu.

And the world? Weird in the best way. One minute you’re in a mushroom kingdom town, the next you’re talking to a sentient sword or dodging falling barrels in a minecart. Geno’s still a mystery wrapped in wooden puppet limbs, and the soundtrack’s full of those chirpy, nostalgic melodies that somehow make grinding for XP feel cozy.

It’s aged way better than most RPGs from that era—probably because it never takes itself too seriously. Even the random encounters have personality, like when you bonk a shy guy and his hat flies off. If you missed this one back in the day, it’s worth digging up just to see where Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario got their start.
