The first thing you’ll notice is how familiar everything feels, right down to the way Mario bounces off enemies, but then you hit a level where the ground starts crumbling faster than you remember, or you stumble into a hidden pipe that leads somewhere completely unexpected.
Some of the level designs are brutal in the best way possible—like that one ghost house that had me retrying for half an hour before I figured out the trick. And Yoshi? Still the MVP, though now he’s got a few new tricks up his sleeve. If you’ve played the original to death, this hack gives you a reason to dust off the SNES (or emulator) and dive back in. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck on that one spike trap section.
