Game Overview

Super Solvers: Gizmos & Gadgets came out in 1993 for MS-DOS, developed by The Learning Company. It was part of that wave of educational games that tried to teach you something while you were busy having fun, a common approach on those old beige boxes. You played as the Super Solver, a kid tasked with stopping the villain Morty Maxwell, who had locked himself inside his fortress full of stolen inventions.

You control your character through a side-scrolling hub, entering different rooms to solve puzzles and collect machine parts. The main goal is to build a vehicle (like a car, airplane, or boat) capable of beating Morty in a final race. Key mechanics include answering science and math questions to unlock parts, then correctly assembling those parts in a workshop based on real physics concepts. The pacing is methodical; you can't just rush through. It feels like a genuine puzzle where your brain does the heavy lifting, not just your reflexes.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
