Super Solvers Spellbound came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, developed by The Learning Company. It was part of that wave of educational games that tried to make learning feel less like homework and more like an actual adventure, something you’d play after school without feeling like you were being taught.

You control a young detective sneaking through a wizard’s castle, trying to recover stolen letters he’s hidden all over. The main goal is to explore the castle room by room, avoiding traps and outsmarting guardian creatures, while solving spelling and vocabulary puzzles to unlock doors and progress. You move screen by screen, each new area presenting a word challenge or a hazard to bypass. The pacing is deliberate; you have to think about your path and manage your limited resources, like keys or health. It feels tense and clever, turning spelling practice into a kind of cautious, thoughtful heist.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
