Game Overview

Tank Attack came out for the Amiga in 1989, developed by CDS Software. It was one of those straightforward action games that filled out the library on the platform, offering a simple but engaging premise without a lot of fuss. You got what you paid for: a tank, some enemies, and a whole lot of things to blow up.

You control a lone tank, navigating maze-like battlefields from a top-down perspective. Your main goal is to destroy every enemy tank on each screen before moving to the next. The terrain is destructible; you can blast through walls and obstacles to create new paths or trap opponents. Power-ups appear occasionally, letting you repair armor or upgrade your weapons for tougher fights. The difficulty ramps up steadily, with enemy AI becoming more aggressive and numerous as you advance. It feels tense and satisfying when you clear a screen by the skin of your treads.
