I picked up Tarzan for the Game Boy Color back when it came out, a licensed game from Disney and developed by Digital Eclipse. It was one of those platformers that felt right at home on the handheld, colorful and straightforward, without trying to reinvent the wheel.

You control Tarzan through side scrolling jungle stages, swinging on vines, climbing trees, and avoiding hazards like leopards and falling rocks. The goal is to rescue Jane and protect the gorillas from Clayton and his hunters. The game uses a mix of vine swinging for momentum, animal riding sections for variety, and some light combat with throws and slides. It starts off forgiving but gets quite tough in later stages, especially with precise platforming required. Playing it feels fluid and energetic, even when the difficulty spikes.
