Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Arcade Attack came out for the Nintendo DS in 2009, published by Ubisoft. It was a time when the handheld was full of licensed games trying to capture that classic arcade feel, and this one was a solid attempt to bring the Turtles back to their side-scrolling beat 'em up roots.
You choose one of the four brothers and fight through waves of Foot Soldiers and other enemies across New York City. The main goal is to stop Shredder's latest scheme, clearing screen after screen of thugs using basic attacks and special moves. Key mechanics include swapping between turtles on the fly to use their unique weapons and abilities, as well as pulling off team-up attacks for extra damage. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike sharply during boss fights. It feels like a straightforward, energetic brawler that doesn't overcomplicate things.
