The Adventures of Captain Comic came out in 1988 for MS-DOS, developed by Michael Denio and published as part of the Classic Games series. It was one of those early side-scrolling platformers that felt ambitious for its time, built for systems that were just starting to handle colorful, multi-screen adventures. You could tell it was made by someone who loved exploration games, even if the tech was still catching up.

You control Captain Comic, a space explorer who jumps and shoots his way through alien worlds. Your goal is to collect pieces of a stolen treasure by navigating screen by screen, grabbing keys to open doors, and avoiding or blasting enemies that float or chase you. The pacing is deliberate; you backtrack sometimes, and the difficulty can spike without much warning. Playing it feels like mapping out a strange, slightly janky universe with your own two hands.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
