Game Overview

Okay, so The Adventures of Captain Comic is this old-school MS-DOS platformer where you’re basically a space explorer jumping around collecting items and blasting weird alien creatures. At first glance, it feels pretty standard—health bar, lives, power-ups—but there are some quirks that make it stand out.

You start with four lives and a shield that acts like health (lose all of it, and the next hit kills you). The levels are split into zones, and crossing into a new one plays this little jingle and wipes all the enemies, which is nice because some of them are relentless. The moon level has these floating Space Pollen things that just bounce around, but then you’ve got other critters that actively chase you down. Annoying, but satisfying when you finally clear a screen of them.

Oh, and the Blastola Cola power-up? Absolute game-changer. Lets you shoot enemies instead of just jumping over them, but ammo’s limited, so you gotta pick your shots. No time pressure, though—take it slow, rack up points, and don’t fall off the bottom of the screen (instant death, classic). It’s got that “just one more try” vibe when you lose your last life. Definitely a product of its time, but weirdly charming.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
