Play The Adventures of Melvin Freebush Online

You play as Melvin, a dork who platform-jumps over flying burgers and licks random objects to solve puzzles—physics are janky, the humor’s dry, and nothing makes sense until it hilariously does.

Game Overview

I picked up The Adventures of Melvin Freebush from a bargain bin of MS-DOS Classic Games, a release with no publisher or developer clearly listed, which was pretty common for shareware titles back then. It fits right in with the oddball, experimental platformers of the early '90s, the kind you'd trade on floppy disks with friends just to see how weird things could get.

You control Melvin, a perpetually confused character in suspenders, navigating a world that feels like a child's crayon drawing come to life. The main goal is to recover pieces of a scattered sandwich, but getting there means platform-jumping over flying burgers, dodging sentient office supplies, and licking random objects to reveal hidden switches or sticky surfaces. Movement is deliberately clumsy, with a slippery momentum that makes precise jumps a tense gamble, and the puzzles rely on trial and error (and a lot of saving). It feels like stumbling through a dream where the rules keep changing, but in a way that makes you laugh instead of groan.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
