Play The Crystal Maze Online
Guide your team through themed zones, solve puzzles under pressure, and collect crystals to earn extra time in the final challenge in The Crystal Maze.
I first played The Crystal Maze on MS-DOS back in 1994, a game developed by Sherston Software Ltd. It was part of that wave of mid-90s computer games that tried to capture the feel of a TV show, and this one was based on the UK adventure series. You didn't need a powerful machine to run it; it fit right in with the point-and-click adventures and puzzle games of the era.
You control a team of four explorers, moving screen by screen through themed zones like Aztec and Futuristic. Your main goal is to solve a series of logic and skill puzzles within a time limit to earn crystals; each crystal buys you more time in the final round. The signature mechanics include choosing which team member to send into each challenge and then guiding them through first-person puzzle rooms, often under pressure from a ticking clock. The pacing is tense, and some puzzles can be quite difficult, demanding quick thinking and a bit of trial and error. It feels like managing a hectic, miniature expedition from your keyboard.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
