Game Overview

The King of Chicago came out in 1986 for MS-DOS, developed by Cinemaware. It was one of those games that tried to blend cinematic storytelling with interactive choices, something not many titles did back then. You play as a small-time gangster trying to claw your way up in Prohibition-era Chicago.

You control Frankie, a low-level thug, making decisions screen by screen as you navigate the city. The main goal is to build your criminal empire, dealing with rival gangs, corrupt officials, and your own crew's loyalty. Key mechanics include choosing dialogue options during confrontations, managing your resources like money and henchmen, and engaging in shootouts that play out in a simple arcade style. The pacing is deliberate, with consequences for every move; one wrong choice can lead to a sudden, permanent end. It feels tense and unpredictable, like walking a tightrope in a world where everyone wants to push you off.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
